Veronika Ortmayr studied media and cultural studies and media culture analysis. She worked as a freelance journalist and writer in the field of culture until she joined the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus in 2014 as an advisor to the artistic director. She has been engaged with artificial intelligence and new technologies since the late 1990s; prior to pursuing her master’s degree, she worked for several years as an IT manager at Siemens SBS. She is particularly interested in gender aspects of human-machine interactions and the cultural history of digitality. Since early 2019, she has been part of the Academy’s Team as Assistant to the Director and is responsible for the master’s program “Theater and Digitality,” launched in 2025 in cooperation with the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences.
