On March 3, 2023, the Minister of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia Ina Brandes sighted the new building of the Academy for Theatre and Digitality. Here, future fellows from all over the world will find plenty of space for their research, work and creativity in the future. The new building offers expanded opportunities to research the technological development of theater. Digital methods and technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality, robotics, coding and motion capturing are at the forefront here. There is also no shortage of space for performances, as a large new stage space is available.
As the sixth division of Theater Dortmund, the Academy awards fellowships funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, giving fellows the opportunity to explore the digital expansion of the theatre. The Academy for Theater and Digitality is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
