In its press release dated September 22, 2023, the City of Dortmund announces that the City Council has agreed to extend the contracts of Julia Wissert (Director of Schauspiel Dortmund) and Marcus Lobbes (Director of the Academy for Theatre and Digitality).
Marcus Lobbes will thus remain Director of the Academy for Theater and Digitality until 2030, which celebrated the official opening of its new location at Dortmund's Digitalhafen on September 2. It says: "During his time as Director, the Academy has accompanied numerous projects that have also attracted international attention and is involved in almost all major digital projects in the German and in some cases international theater landscape."
This confirms the Academy's national and international development as a central cultural policy advisory center, as a training and further education center in the digital scenic arts and as an artistic research institute that promotes cultural change in the digital age. One of the Academy's next major projects is the accreditation of the degree course "Digitality in the Scenic Arts" (AT), which is being developed in cooperation with Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
