New Executive Committee of the German Academy of Performing Arts elected - Marcus Lobbes becomes Vice President
The German Academy of Performing Arts elected a new Executive Board at its General Assembly on March 23, 2024. The previous President, Prof. Hans-Jürgen Drescher, was confirmed in office. Bettina Reitz will be succeeded as Vice President by Caroline von Senden, Head of ZDF's Television Drama I editorial department. Anselm Weber will be succeeded as Second Vice President by Marcus Lobbes, Director of the Academy for Theater and Digitality, and Ekkehard Skoruppa, who stood in for long-time Treasurer Christoph Buggert on an interim basis in 2023, will be succeeded by Barbara Schäfer, Head of the Radio Drama Feature Radio Art department at Deutschlandradio. The Executive Committee was elected / confirmed in office for 3 years by the members with outstanding approval.
Marcus Lobbes (Director of the Academy for Theater and Digitality, the sixth division founded at Theater Dortmund in 2019) is looking forward to his new position: "I am convinced that this collaboration will open up new perspectives and make a valuable contribution to the development of the performing arts in Germany. I am looking forward to the exchange with the members and the inspiring encounters that now lie ahead of us all."
As director of the Academy, he is in demand locally, nationally and internationally in lecture and discourse formats; an important concern for him is the formation and promotion of various networks for the performing arts as well as the communication of artistic research in correspondence with the latest technologies to theater and educational institutions, politics and the public. He has been working as a director, designer and author in music and spoken theater since 1995 and has also been regularly invited as a guest lecturer at various renowned universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 2014.
