Stage and costume designer Hanna Rode has been nominated for the Hein Heckroth Award, which is endowed with 5,000 euros and sponsored by the city of Giessen. Hanna Rode, born in 1991, studied fine arts in the stage and costume design class at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. Her engagements have taken her to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Schauspiel Hannover, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, the Münchner Volkstheater, the Landestheater Linz and the Schauspiel Wuppertal, among others. Rode is the co-author and costume designer of the film “Kontener” (director: Sebastian Lang), which premiered at the Berlinale in 2017 and was nominated for the European Film Award in 2018. She pays particular attention to puppets and masks, which she often not only designs but also makes herself for her theater, film and video projects. As part of her fellowship at the Academy for Theater and Digitality, she also made her own puppets to deal with the representation of violence.

The Hein Heckroth Stage Design Prize and the associated sponsorship prize have been awarded every two years since 2003. The prize is awarded to stage designers who creatively incorporate an examination of the visual arts into their work. The award ceremony for Vinge/Müller will take place on April 27, 2025 at the Stadttheater Gießen.
