New meat A VR production by internil / Arne Vogelgesang
A psychological laboratory to which the audience is invited individually. An experiment. An encounter with a fictional counterpart mediated via virtual reality. A possible shared story. Credible? Realistic? Desirable?
While many people metaphorically “love to eat” others, those with actual cannibalistic fantasies usually keep them to themselves. They satisfy their desires with stories, images and role-playing games. The rare occasions when the taboo is violated and such desires are acted out are good as sensations for a media and cultural landscape that is always hungry for monsters and as “cases” for the judiciary and science.
Neues Fleisch takes research into the longing for the ultimate physical encounter as an opportunity to experiment with desire in an increasingly virtual world. In the midst of all the gadgets and interfaces around lust and desire, under all the watchful eyes around you and within you, between all the chairs - which hunger and which flesh are you?
In cooperation with the Wiener Volkstheater, the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Akademie für Theater und Digitalität in Dortmund. With the support of Berliner Festspiele.
The performance takes place every 30 minutes for one person at a time. Registration by email to: service@deutschestheater.de.
You will be welcomed and interviewed on site to customize the setup for you. Please note that large spectacle frames or clip-on hairstyles may cause problems with the VR headset. If you have any questions or special requirements, please enquire before purchasing a ticket.
