Piet Esch

Born 1979 in Berlin. He started his career working as both director and director of photography for short films, music videos and advertisements. Between 2000 and 2006 he co-founded the artists-pool Mindflash and the crossmedia company Sugarman in Berlin. It was also in these years he co-founded the video department of the Hebbel-Theater Berlin. From 2009 on his main aim was to create and produce his own short films. In 2011 he worked on multiple experimental movies and video installations. After his studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) he worked for three years together with the production company point de vue to pursue the production of his first feature film. At ZHdK he worked from 2019 to 2022 as a research associate on the research project hands on. In 2023 he starts his residency at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality to research on new possibilities of holographic theatre.
