The media art duo Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten explore and scrutinise the relationship between nature and culture. Their research encompasses plants, fungi, microorganisms and the investigation of narratives that view the world from the perspective of these organisms. Within their installations, they create landscapes and digital avatars in virtual reality as well as in physically accessible spaces that spring from the post-industrial age. How can we as an audience behave empathetically towards life in our environment? What influence do human definitions of nature, time and consciousness have? And how can the perspective of a non-human organism be experienced?
The ‘Time | Space | Resources’ grant is a collaboration between the Academy for Theatre and Digitality and the artists. The project is funded by the Kunststiftung NRW.
