During the "Next Level - Festival for Games", the Academy for Theatre and Digitality presented the virtual networking platform "ToGather" on the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein from 25 to 27 November. This was created as part of the International Visitors Programme of the NRW KULTURsekretariat, the Digital Arts Department of the Theater Dortmund and the Akademie für Theater und Digitalität. Here, international artists can meet, exchange and network digitally and decentrally. The platform is based on Mozilla Hubs and can be virtually accessed and experienced not only in the browser but also via VR glasses.
Visitors to the "Next Level - Festival for Games" were also able to explore the project "The unlearning journey in a virtual body", which takes them on a journey into the virtualised human body. The external and the internal are mixed, the visible and the invisible are united. Sounds, visualities, choreographies and intermedial approaches follow the trail of stimuli that daily assail our autonomic nervous system and trigger accompanying changes in our mood and body. The creative minds behind the project are Arnab Banerjee, Zhang Cui, Aljaž Koprivnikar, Bouke Mekel (alumni of the International Visitors Programme) and Elena Tilli (alumna of the Academy for Theatre and Digitality). Together, they developed the project "The unlearning journey in a virtual body" as part of a digital residency in cooperation with the FAVORITEN Festival, which puts the correlation between rationality and human emotions into a new perspective.
