Among other things, they held the conceptual and artistic direction of the production and performance "The House of Monstress Intelligenzia", which was presented in cooperation with the Berlin HAU and the Düsseldorf FFT in March 2022. In January 2023, Janne Kummer was artistic director of the VR and desktop multiplayer game "XBPMMM - A Travelogue of Morphing" shown at HAU. In interactive exhibitions in hybrid space, Janne Kummer's artistic work becomes clear as a tool to uncover existing power structures and develop alternative, future queer-feminist visions.
Janne Kummer has been a lecturer in the fields of storytelling, posthumanism, cyber/techno/ and data feminism since 2018. In artistic research, she was part of the "DiGiTal" BCP fellowship, the "ATLAS Residancy Impulstanz" in Vienna and the "Berlin OpenLab", among others. With the fellowship at the Academy for Theater and Digitality, Janne Kummer focuses on the different perceptions of bodies and body images. Which body is remembered? Which one is perceived as human? And how can a body evade (re)evaluation, exist without being perceived as a representational surface, value or commodity? Janne Kummer's research is situated between technological reference and socio-critical observation and implements findings from neuroscience, embodiment and gamification in order to increase awareness of subjective physicality and body ownership.
As part of their artistic practice, Janne Kummer is also trained in martial arts and is a passionate Thai boxer (Muay Thai & K1).
